Notes and comments on Opportunities

I'd like to be able to edit a note on a contact/lead/account and assign it to an opportunity. This will let me group all communications about a opportunity together (e.g. read through a discussion thread about ProjectX).
For a UI: adding a simple select field to the note to pick an opportunity would be perfect (and make it work for Email notes). Then on the Opportunity tag, the notes could just be listed after each opportunity (expand/collapse).
Bonus points if a note can be assigned to multiple opportunities (e.g. one email that talked about two different projects).
