Create data import wizard

For the sake of data portability, it would be extremely valuable to
have CSV/XML importing and updating capability + CSV/XML exporting.
Salesforce has a tool called the Data Loader which does exactly this.
It is a wizard like tool that reads your CSV, maps its columns to the
CRM fields and then updates, inserts, or upserts. It can also export
records in those formats.

    This would be great. The minimum would be a simple CSV upload facility.

    I would really love to see import... As some of our staff is working on excel basis it makes working slow and unproductive. Thanks for taking care of.

    just build a basic importer for cvs like tabular data, which supports associations and pre-processing of data
    it works well, is very flexible and tested
    an awesome user interface would be nice ;-)

    A++ CSV/XML importing and exporting would be an excellent addition. My added 2 cents would be to add one key feature which I feel is missing being data sync from external services.

    If you were able to import all the data from google contacts or facebook and then be able to set the system to auto sync every "x" period of time this would be amazing.

    I agree with a previous comment related to how highrise deal with contact merges (winner/looser) and I feel with data imports this should be taken into account. I feel the best solution here would be to preform the import and during the import any records which are possible duplicates are separated out so they are not included in the main database yet. After the import a report is shown along with any records which require the users attention. Viewing these records should be presented similar to an svn by which the left side show the current record in the system, the right side the duplicate records where red/green is used to show what would be deleted/added. Additionally, records which dont have duplicate unique fields (such as email addresses) should have the ability of being added as new entries.

    Ive attached a possible mockup, very rough.

    Give ability so save the import template,since you may get imported from different layout and each import maybe different.
    During the import have the ability to assign those leads to a specific user, (e.g. leads 1-400 to user A and leads 400-700 to user B)

    Also be able to create a task after the import, (i.e. create a followup phone for leads that are imported)
