Possibility of an email being sent on task assignment (configurable)?

When a user assigns a task to another user, can an email be sent
to the assignee to advise this has happened?
This could be an optional profile configuration.
This would be handy when access to fatfree is not possible however access to the email system is. (On the road workers, through mobile mail etc).

Hi Mike,
Is it an idea to make a configurable admin-section to define these kind of actions? Instead of hard-coding this.

Sure, that would be great. Settings table has two fields: "value" and "default_value" that are searched in that order. Admin interface could set "value" and/or revert to "default_value".
